Gemma Sato was born in Toronto, Canada.
Her face-claim is Enuka Okuma
and she is eternally twenty-nine.
August 6th, 1998. The cause of her death was a bullet to the chest.
Once upon a time, Gemma had had everything figured out. She was furthering her career as a police officer in Toronto, she had a fiance who loved her, and a son who loved her even more. And she loved her job. Every moment of it - even the completely and utterly boring bits. She'd been having fun. But then the opportunity for a promotion came up, and Gemma was passed up in favour of a colleague of hers - a man by the name of Lucas Marsden. Upset that she'd hardly been considered, and had been passed up for a man less qualified than she, she became reckless. Rules were no longer something that Gem actually cared about. At least, she didn't follow them quite as blindly as she had before. This wasn't so much problematic as liberating - Gemma was damn good at what she did, regardless of whether rules and regulations were followed or not.
A drugs bust rolled around, and Gemma, along with about five of the people who worked at her division, was selected for the operation. Three of the five were good friends of Gemma's, and four of the five - all three of the friends in question, along with Gemma herself - were selected to go undercover. Gemma herself had a bit of undercover experience, but was still just a little bit nervous about the operation. Still, apparently nerves were normal when one was to assist with an operation of such magnitude. They went in a while before the bust was to take place, acting as little more than informants. The work was a lot less exciting than it had been made out to be, especially after the initial adrenaline wore off, but Gemma didn't mind all that much. Sure, she complained a little here and there, but as she was undercover the opportunity to complain didn't present itself that often. It was then that Tracy Ferguson came to her, asking if she wanted to take matters into their own hands. Tracy had a plan - a dangerous one, but a plan nonetheless. And she was looking forward to following through with it, if she could get Gemma to agree to help.
Gemma was immensely hesitant at first, but eventually came around to the idea of the immense risk. It could go one of two ways - idiocy or brilliance. Should it turn out to be the latter, there was a small chance she'd still be reprimanded a little. Regulation wasn't something to be messed with in such a blatantly obvious manner. That being said, it could also put the people behind numerous addictions and ODs behind bars. After agreeing to it, it was only a matter of careful planning, all of which had to be done carefully. There was no way they could let the people on the drug squad know, and letting the people they were up against find out would have been the most idiotic thing in the world. And neither of the two women were idiots. Eventually, they brought two other people in on the idea - Lance Stanford, as well as Elizabeth Burke, ice queen extraordinaire. The day of their freelance operation dawned a month or so later, and they pulled it off perfectly - almost. Things went sour a moment before they would have gotten out unharmed, and they were all shot. Waking up in the otherworld wasn't the greatest thing in the world, especially not for Gemma, who had left behind a family and the promotion she'd wanted so badly. And she didn't like the cold, not one bit. Now she is becoming steadily more resigned to her fate, but continues to look for a way out.
THE ROLE OF GEMMA SATO IS CURRENTLY OPEN.
